99th Reading win the 2013/2014 District Murray Plate Competition

On Saturday 15th March, 99th Reading were runners-up in the District 5-a-side football competition.

The competition was run as two leagues. The 99th team won their league after several tough matches, having not conceded any goals. They then played the 1st Sonning team in the final but were beaten 2-0, in a competitive match.

Our team was Edmund, Tom, James, Morgan, Ashwin, Hanna & Asish (not pictured.)

As a result of being runners up in the football competition, 99th Reading were awarded 14 points in the annual District Murray Plate competition.

The annual Murray Plate competition comprises six events during the year. These events are Camping, Rafting, Great Breakfast Chase, 10-pin Bowling, Cooking and finally 5-a-side football.

During the 2013/2014 Murray Plate competition 99th Reading came first in the Camping and Cooking competitions; and second in the Great Breakfast Chase and 5-a-side football competitions.

We came equal second in the Murray plate last year, losing out by only one point to the winners (5th Woodley Grenfell).  Due to the results from this year’s events, 99th Reading won the trophy for the first time since we moved to Loddon district in 2006.

Well done to all the Scouts who took part in the six events.
